Reason for implementation
We had been using magnet separators manufactured by another company, but we used them on their own, so we started seeing many issues due to aging degradation and clogging. We were thinking about replacing them and we installed FINE MAG as a trial machine.
We were also constructing a new factory at the time, but we could not decide what to do with the water soluble coolant for the tank. It was perfect timing because we could do joint research and development to implement a machine that addresses our needs, and install a trial machine of the FINE SEMICLO unit at the same time.
There would be little time to perform machine maintenance at the new factory, so we were faced with the big problem of finding a maintenance-free machine. However, we held many discussions with Sumitomo Heavy Industries Finetech and managed to resolve our problems one by one.
It is wonderful that Sumitomo Heavy Industries Finetech can respond flexibly to shape changes and suggestions according to our needs.
Benefits after installation
We achieved a lot thanks to the maintenance-free machine. In regular production lines, we always had to clean the machines during long holidays, but we were able to eliminate that work after installing Sumitomo Heavy Industries Finetech machines, allowing us to cut work time and cost significantly.
In addition, the parts of Sumitomo Heavy Industries Finetech machines are very reliable and the rollers have undergone hardening treatment, so they are extremely wear-resistant.
We also greatly appreciate the exceptional squeezing performance of FINE MAG. We use FINE MAG in order to squeeze sludge from our gear grinding work on the production line and we can feel that the moisture content is very low.The oil we use for our work is quite expensive, so we had to deal with the issue of lost coolant. However, with FINE MAG, the squeezing performance is so great that we no longer had to do it twice.
The production line that I manage has approx. 200 machines and all of them are FINE MAG. I try to install only FINE MAG as much as possible because I want the machines to be from the same company. Furthermore, it is easy to recoup the expense from the running cost with FINE MAG.
Our company values machines that can save space, so we are developing machines and equipment that can improve our productivity while utilizing the dead space in our factory by holding numerous discussions with Sumitomo Heavy Industries Finetech.
Maintenance and after-sales service
I think we encounter less troubles and issues with the machines from Sumitomo Heavy Industries Finetech than those from other companies. Another major benefit is that we can use their machines without worry because we wanted maintenance-free machines.
In our joint development work, it is necessary to try different things, such as the selection of machines and capacity settings, but it does not take long to redo something with Sumitomo Heavy Industries Finetech. It is also helpful that they recover fast when something does not go as planned.
We get a strong sense of assurance because we were able to consult with them frequently. The machines are highly regarded at our overseas factories as well, so we feel that Sumitomo Heavy Industries Finetech can build environments where issues can be resolved easily.
Going forward, we would like to continue taking on different challenges with Sumitomo Heavy Industries Finetech.
